If you’ve been thinking about starting a journal, this is the perfect time to do so. It’s the end of 2016, and what better way to start 2017 than by committing to a journal for at least one full year. A full year might seem scary at the moment, but soon enough, you’ll enjoy each and every moment. By the time you’re half way through your journal, you’ll look back and wonder why haven’t you been doing this in the past!
I’m very much into journaling, keeping notebooks with my thoughts, carrying around To Do lists, and blogging my random thoughts. You should definitely try it as well!
Here’s why YOU should start a journal… RIGHT NOW!
1. Let It All Out
The thing about journaling, is that you can get it all out on paper. All those messed up feelings, your unspeakable thoughts and random doodles, they all fit in a journal book. You don’t always need someone to talk to, sometimes the pages of a journal are a nice comforting place to open up.
2. Reflect & Act On It
It’s one thing to write down your thoughts, and it’s another to reflect on them. By looking back at all the things you have written down over the course of a year or more, you’ll come to many conclusions about yourself and the life you’ve been living. You’ll notice the alterations that happened to you, the many ways you have changed, and you’ll act on those changes. There will be many things that will go right for you and others that will need to be improved, and a journal is the right place to figure that out.
3. Keep Track of Things in Your Life
Pages and pages of To-Do lists, calendars you have to abide by, or progress of major events happening in your life that you need to keep track off. Plenty of ideas you can jot down to follow up on. Let’s face it, a friend will never hold you accountable for things you should/shouldn’t do, but the pages of a journal will!
4. Make Memories to Look back On
Write down what happened, write down things you have enjoyed, glue on memories and enjoy looking back at all of these one day and see how far you’ve come. You’ll be amazed at the end result and the changes that can happen in a year.
5. A place for All Your Crazy Ideas & Dreams
You know those ideas that you think of during the shower? But then you get out of the shower and all of those thoughts and ideas are left behind to be forgotten? It’s about time you start writing them down and keeping them in a safe place. They might come in handy one day and those dreams are turned into a reality.
6. No Judgement… Be Yourself Completely
Sometimes, we’re afraid to speak up our minds because of all the judgments found around us. A journal is a place for you to say whatever you want without that. Without the awkward silences, the nervous stares, and the weird conversations… It’s a place for you to be yourself without being judged. Why would you want to give that up?
I’ve tried to summarize why you should start a journal in 6 reasons. Now tell me, will you be starting yours? Let me know in the comments below, I’d love to know! 😀
